Peaceful Whimsy
I love mornings just before the sun is about to rise.
I sip my tea.
Breathe in the cool autumn air.
Blinking slowly.
Waking up.
No longer night, the sky begins to lighten ever so slightly.
I imagine...
There’s a clearing in the middle of a forest. Birds chirp. Deer relish the untouched, unkept dewy grasses. Butterflies and small fuzzy wings float amongst wildflowers.
It’s early morning. A small family of rabbits venture together nibbling on clover and shrubs. Grasshoppers glide wistfully from one tall green stem to another.
An ethereal breeze brushes through filling the space with a surrounding percussion. Peaceful. Whimsical.
Another sip of my English Breakfast Tea with just the right amount of cream.
I think of the park nearby where the fountains run and landscapers care for the grounds at first light. Watering and trimming. Tending and keeping.
People walk along the paths surrounding the amphitheater. Circling, trailing. Beginning their days amidst lavender and bees. A single dandelion in the midst of weeds. The smell of pine.
My puppy barks just before she falls asleep for her first morning rest after eating and running and playing.
